he Kimbell is hosting liturgical art, objects, and clothing from the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem, which dates back to 4th Century and is traditionally thought to be the site of the Crucifixion and Tomb of Jesus. Many Christian monarchs have sought to show their religious devotion and national talent through donations of beautiful artwork over the centuries, and the result is an interesting exhibition of the balance of state and religious powers, and of human talent.
A group from Emmanuel will go together to the exhibit on Tuesday April 14th at 11, but I encourage you to go on your own if you can’t make the group date. Tickets are $9 ($8 for Seniors) on Tuesdays, twice that on other days. We will have a sign up sheet in the Narthex to organize carpooling to the event.
